St Richard’s Catholic College Calendar 2021 – 2022

A big thank you to the above Bexhill College for creating an amazing School Year Calendar with all proceeds to go to Surviving Christmas. All the wonderful artwork has been created by the fantastic pupils. Money raised will be used to pack food hampers and go a long way to supporting those most in need at Christmas so a huge thank you from the team. If you would like to buy a calendar then please contact Surviving Christmas or enquire through the College.

Tesco – Bexhill

We have made contact with the Glynde Gap Tesco Community Champion who we hope will be able to support our charity again this year. We hope to be able to raise money in the store in December and have a ‘New Toy’ collection bin available, so if you feel able to buy an extra toy in your shopping then they will be gratefully received by the children we support at Christmas.

Please Help!

We realise that the whole community has suffered this year both emotionally and financially due to the global pandemic, so Christmas may be a bleak prospect again for some this year.

We still hope to give support through our Charity (dependent upon Government restrictions) and would be grateful for any financial support. We also hope this year to be able to accept suitable warm clothing and new toys. The website will be updated on this in the Autumn.

Christmas 2021 Projects

Our two main projects are the Hamper Project and our 2-day Event.

This year we hope to make up about 700 Food Hampers for those most in need within the area of Hastings and Rother – the nominations come from local support agencies. Last year we had a lot of support from local agencies as we could not deliver all the parcels due to the restrictions. It is likely that this year we will take a similar approach and arrange for some deliveries, some collections and some agency distribution. This was successful in ensuring we reached all recipients promptly before Christmas.

We are very hopeful that the two day open events on Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be able to go ahead. We hope to welcome in guests to enjoy a hot meal, entertainment, company, somewhere to shower and have a haircut. No formal invite is necessary just come along on the day between 10am and 4pm. More details will be available nearer the time dependent upon Government advice.

Making a Donation

Money donations, either via our online donations page, by BACS transfer or by cheque will be particularly welcome.

Our bank details are as follows:

We hope to have a Crowd Funding page in November so please look out for details.

Any donations are so much appreciated and help us to continue to support those most in need at Christmas. Thank you.

Volunteering in 2021

If Government restrictions allow, we hope to welcome existing and new volunteers to help us run our hamper and 2 day event projects this year. We hope to return to our online volunteer recruitment in October so that people can sign up for dates and roles, most suited to them. We would again like to take this opportunity to thank volunteers for their ongoing support for the charity and hope to see some of you back this year. The website, email and social media platforms will keep everyone informed.

As we get nearer to the time of the events and are aware of any actual restrictions that are imposed, we can then finalise on what is achievable and make the appropriate announcement. Please see below for other ways you can help too!

As you will be aware this continues to be difficult time for all charities and Surviving Christmas is no exception. We would normally have been regularly fundraising throughout the year in readiness for the festive period. With the COVID19 pandemic, our funds are much depleted and we are expecting a rise in the number of nominations for food hampers this year, due to the extra hardship people are being faced with.

With this in mind, we would like you, your friend’s and family’s help. Our food Hampers contain about 30 items including all the essentials such as tins of meat, fish, veg, soup and baked beans plus pasta, cooking sauces, sugar, cereals, sweets and chocolate. If everyone saved one of these items per week (being mindful of best before dates) then by Christmas we would be well on our way to building our reserves. We will be able to receive donated food items at the Salvation Army Hall Hastings during the week of 6th December 2021 ready for packing week commencing 13th December 2021. In recent years we have distributed over 700 hampers. We realise that times are more difficult for us all but any help would be amazing. Thank you! Please use the Contact Us page on the website if any further information is needed.
