Please Help!

We realise that the whole community has suffered this year both emotionally and financially due to the global pandemic, so Christmas may be a bleak prospect for some this year.

We still hope to give support through our Charity (dependent upon Government restrictions) and would be grateful for any financial support.

Christmas 2020 Projects

Our two main projects are the Hamper Project and our 2-day Event.

We still hope to make up about 700 Food Hampers for those most in need within the area of Hastings and Rother – the nominations come from local support agencies. It is likely that we will not be able to deliver so collections will have to be managed.

Unfortunately, the 2-day event cannot go ahead for 2020 and it is with deep regret that we will be unable to offer any food or support on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year.

Covid-19 will have a significant impact on the Charity’s activities this year. While there will undoubtedly be an increase in demand for the Charity’s services, the space restrictions imposed to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus will limit what is actually possible.

To safeguard the volunteers, which we will have to restrict because of space limitations, we cannot accept any gifts of clothing, toys/presents or groceries. Consequently, because all of the contents for the hampers are having to be obtained from the wholesaler, our expenditure this year is likely to significantly increase.

Making a Donation

Money donations, either via our online donations page, by BACS transfer or by cheque will be particularly welcome.

Our bank details are as follows:
Santander 09-01-28 A/C no. 95875221 Surviving Christmas – please put name as reference for acknowledgement and tick for Gift Aid if eligible.
Surviving Christmas, HVA Jackson Hall, Portland Place, Hastings, TN34 1QN

You can also donate via our crowdfunding page here: This will help us to support those in need with a much needed hamper this year.

Any donations are so much appreciated and help us to continue to support those most in need at Christmas. Thank you.

Volunteering in 2020

We will not be running an online volunteer recruitment campaign this year due to the limited number of volunteers we can work with and we have a duty of care. However, we would like to take this opportunity to thank volunteers for their ongoing support for the charity and hope to see many of you back next year. The website, email and social media platforms will keep everyone informed.

As we get nearer to the time of the events and are aware of the actual restrictions that are imposed, we can then finalise on what is achievable and make the appropriate announcement.
